The decision was taken at a meeting of the Awami League's central executive on Friday afternoon. Awami League President Sheikh Hasina presided over the meeting. The meeting was attended by 50 leaders of the Central Committee.

In a meeting held at Ganobhaban on Friday afternoon, the Prime Minister said that Mayor Jahangir had committed an "unforgivable crime". What he said about the father of the nation and the war of liberation is tantamount to violating the constitution and treason. He cannot be forgiven. Whether he will remain mayor of the city corporation after his expulsion from the party will be decided through legal process.

Several leaders present at the meeting told Kaler Kanth that Mrinal Kanti Das, Awami League's Liberation War Secretary, started talking about the issue of Jahangir Alam. He spoke in favor of expelling Jahangir Alam from the party. Later, many of the party's joint general secretaries, including Mahbubul Alam Hanif, Dipu Moni, Bahauddin Nasim, organizing secretary Sakhawat Hossain Shafiq, information and research secretary Selim Mahmud,

and executive members Sanjida Khanam, Anwar Hossain, as well as Sahabuddin

Faraji also spoke to Jahangir. Claims.

According to meeting sources, Awami League President Sheikh Hasina asked him to read out the letter sent to him before taking a decision against Mayor Jahangir and read out Jahangir's reply. Awami League Publicity Secretary Abdus Sobhan Golap read out the two letters. Most of the central leaders present at the meeting unanimously demanded the expulsion of Jahangir. Now other issues will be decided through the legal process.

Last October, a video of Jahangir Alam spread through social media. The video, which was secretly recorded, shows him making controversial remarks in a conversation with a man about Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the number of martyrs in the liberation war. After that, Awami League leaders and activists staged protests in different areas of Gazipur demanding his punishment.

Jahangir Alam then told Kaler Kantha that his political opponents were very enthusiastic and edited his speech and distorted it and spread it through social media. He is the victim of a deep conspiracy.

On October 3, the Central Awami League sent a letter of reason to Jahangir Alam alleging that he was acting against the party's interests and violating organizational discipline. The letter, signed by the party's general secretary Obaidul Quader, asked Jahangir Alam to show cause within 15 days. In reply to the letter, Jahangir confessed his mistake and apologized unconditionally to everyone.

According to Awami League sources, Jahangir Alam's reply did not satisfy the Awami League policy makers. The central leaders considered his remarks about Bangabandhu unforgivable.

Three leaders joined the presidium

Three vacant posts of the party's presidium have been filled in the meeting of the central executive parliament of the Awami League. Two members of the central executive parliament and former ministers Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya and Kamrul Islam have been made members of the presidium. Rajshahi Metropolitan Awami League president AHM Khairuzzaman Liton has been made a member of the delegation even though he was not in the central committee this time. Liton, the son of HM Kamaruzzaman, one of the four national leaders, is currently the mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation.

And in the last one year, three members of the presidium of the Awami League, Mohammad Nasim, and Sahara Khatun and Abdul Matin Khasru have died due to the central leadership being attacked by Kavid.

We have to respond to propaganda

In her inaugural address at the Awami League Central Executive Meeting, Awami League President Sheikh Hasina called upon the party leaders and workers to be vigilant against the propagandists against the government and to respond to the propaganda.

Sheikh Hasina further said that despite so much development, some people are spreading propaganda in the country and abroad. And we have to be aware of those who are destroying the dignity of the country, we have to respond to the propaganda.

Sheikh Hasina became more enraged and said, "Some people are holding meetings on how to remove the Awami League from power. And the power of the people is the power of the Awami League that is forced to intervene. We are working to serve the people and will continue to do so. '

The Awami League president said, "People don't like BNP. In what hope will people vote for BNP?" The party run by the fugitive accused, people will vote in any hope? They have looted the money of the poor of the country and smuggled it abroad. Sitting abroad is comfortable. What is the source of their income? '

And the Prime Minister said the angry response was rewarded by BNP founder military ruler Ziaur Rahman, his wife Khaleda Zia and another military ruler HM Ershad from power Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and their killers. "I think the nation should know how Khaleda Zia, Ershad and Ziaur Rahman helped these murderers," he said.
